TAI CHI & GOLF

I started going to Tai Chi classes twice a week this winter. I read that one’s golf game could improve due to the flexibility enhancements, the self-induced meditative calmness and the physical and mental focus. Boy, was I wrong!

As with Tai Chi, proper golf form requires specific moves done in a balanced, relaxed, and focused way, I read.  The essentials of Tai Chi are the same as the essentials of golf. Through practice and application of the Tai Chi essentials, the golf player can achieve a higher level of physical and mental form. Ya, that’s what I read.

The similarities that I have experienced in the actual practice of both Tai Chi and golf, unfortunately, are at odds  in my teensy,  feeble brain.

Basically there are 108 moves in Tai Chi and they are done in a certain order and fluidity. In golf I have around 108 swing thoughts that express themselves completely out of order and are about as fluid as 10W30 in February.

So like golf, I’ll continue to practice Tai Chi in the hopes that both will improve. So if you have any swampland for sale or hot stock tips, now’s the time to strike, while I’m distracted in a meditative haze of self-delusion that my golf game is actually going to improve. 😂
